The Tour de Salisbury is a running tour of 12 different running routes with 12 different distances that we have created for you and your friends to run (or walk) throughout June and July! Six of the routes will be in Salisbury, Maryland and the other six will be within 30 or so minutes of Salisbury, Maryland.

This is a chance for you and your friends to run, compete and explore during a time when races have been cancelled through the summer.

So how does this work? All legs will be connected to a Strava segment and links to the legs will be posted here under the section "Tour Legs" as well as on our website To participate in the event you do not need Strava, however to compete for a podium spot (top 3) for a leg or for the entire event you WILL need to use Strava. Those not competing for a podium spot can use a different GPS enabled running app. Once a leg has been run, runners will enter the time it took you to run the leg and a screenshot of the run into this Ultrasignup page (you will each have your own Dashboard). The screenshot will have to include the GPS map, running time, actual time and the date. Runners are free to rerun a route for a better time within the two month period. So you run the actual routes on your own (or with a well-distanced friend) and you compete with others participating. Runs can be completed on any day at any time within June or July. Legs can also be run in any order that a runner desires and as many time as a runner desires.

As runners log in their times (distances can be over, but not under the exact course distance), Ultrasignup will show their progress towards completing the Tour de Salisbury. Awards will be given to the top three men and women based on the overall time of the combined 12 legs of the event. Individual leg winners will also be recognized.

All participants will receive an event shirt and, if the runner completes the tour, a finishers’ award.
Registration will begin on Monday May 18th at 6pm. We will begin to share the legs on Tuesday May 19th (one leg each day until May 30th). The event starts on Monday June 1st, which includes the ability to log your runs into Ultrasignup. Real routes, real runs.

Not entering the leg number will void the run.

Leg 1: Pemberton Park (3.9 miles) 

Start route by crossing the field towards the tree line and follow the course clockwise.

Start/Finish at the wood fence in the corner of the parking area, next to the bathroom.

Leg 2: Naylor Mill (3.5)
Enter at the Naylor Mill Forest Trails sign, loop runs clockwise.
Start/Finish is in front of the bench on your left upon entry to the trail.

Leg 3: Salisbury Park (3.0 miles)
Begin in the parking area at Ben’s Red Swings (Entrance on S Park Drive Side). The loop begins on the crushed gravel trail closest to S Park Drive and runs clockwise. You will cross the water at the bridge with the white railing.
Start/Finish is at the trail connected to the Ben’s Red Swings lot.

Leg 4: Salisbury Airport Loop (7.3 miles)

Loop runs clockwise from Twilleys Bridge Rd towards Fooks Rd

Start/Finish is at the intersection of Twilleys Bridge Rd and Partridge Hill Rd (T Intersection)

Leg 5 (Alternative): Trap Pond Loop (4.5miles)

Start/Stop is on the Bob Trail next to the Trap Pond Boat Launch sign/entrance. Follow the Bob Trail counterclockwise until you see the “Trail closed for maintenance” sign and take a LEFT at the trail marker directing you to “Cypress Point”. Follow this trail straight (there are sections that veer of, do not take them!) until you come to a “T” at the road. Make a RIGHT on the road and then a quick LEFT on the very next trail you see off the road (Trail marker reads “To Campground”). This will take you into the campground (you aren’t lost). When you come to a Stop Sign, take a RIGHT down the camping row. Veer left towards the camping exit and you will come to another Stop Sign, RIGHT again. One more stop sign (camp store to your left), take a LEFT on the road. Very shortly, you will see the Bob trail on your LEFT, take that LEFT and follow the Bob Trail back around to the boat ramp to finish!

Leg 5: Trap Pond Loop (4.5 miles)
*Please note that depending on where you choose to park, you may be subject to State Park Fees. As always, we encourage support of our local parks!*

The loop follows the Bob trail COUNTERCLOCKWISE all the way around Trap Pond and is well marked.

Start/Finish is on the Bob Trail (Red) next to the Trap Pond Boat Launch entrance.

Leg 6: Blackwater Loop (6.6 miles)

Start/Finish at the sign by the visitor center. Run to Key Wallace Dr, turn right to head East, then turn right again to enter the refuge. following the course through the beautiful scenic park and continue back into the visitors center parking lot and finish where you started by the sign.

Leg 7: Ocean City Boardwalk (4.4 miles)

Starting from the South end of the Boardwalk, run to the far North end (27th St) and back to the South end.  Closest parking is either the Inlet of Division St next near the Dough Roller.

Start/Finish is at the encased Shark in front of the Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum.

Leg 8: Cooper Loop Half (13.1)

Start/Finish is part way down S Upper Ferry Rd between the ferry and the intersection. Run away from the ferry and turn right onto Cooper Rd follow the course and you will finish on the same spot on S Upper Ferry Rd that you started. Make sure you break 13.1 miles before stopping your watch or phone.

Leg 9:  Cherry Walk (10 miles)
Start/Finish at the Quantico Post Office. Go clockwise around Cherry Walk Road. Be sure to turn left on Holloway Road and then right on Athol Road and then right onto Old Athol Road, which will turn into Quantico road back to your start.

Leg 10: Salisbury University (6.2 miles)
*This course can have busy traffic depending on the time of day please use caution and use sidewalks wherever possible*

Start/Finish location is on the corner of Milford St and Wayne St right at the yellow fire hydrant.
Run down Wayne St turn left on Bateman St and take the SU walk tunnel. Exit the tunnel and turn right and head north up S Salisbury Blvd. Follow the course and you will take the tunnel back the way you started.

Leg 11: Blades (5.4 miles)
To find the start of the Blades segment drive all the way to the end of Blades road and park. This location is called the Mattaponi soft boat launch. The segment begins at the picnic table by the river. Eagles frequent this area so keep your eyes open. Begin the route by running on the gravel road that you drove in on. Next, take a left at the first gate that you encounter. This trail is the orange trail and it will take you around all of the ponds. Do not turn off of the orange trail. The orange trail will take you across Blades Road at about .9 miles. Soon after you cross Blades road you will need to head towards the right onto the yellow trail (you are getting ready to make a giant figure EIGHT 😎. Follow the yellow trail until about mile 1.8 where you will turn left onto the blue trail. At the end of the blue trail (about mile 2.4) make a RIGHT onto the green trail and then another right on the yellow trail. Stay on the yellow trail until you see the blue trail again where you will make a right. Run the blue trail again but this time take a LEFT at the end onto the green trail. Follow the green trail (which will turn into yellow trail) until you see the orange trail and turn right, which will bring you back to where where you previously crossed Blades Road. Turn left on Blades road and back to the picnic table where you started.

Leg 12: Assateague (7 Miles)
Leg 12 is HERE!!! Vamos a la playa! Whoa. Wait. What? That’s right. Get your sand legs ready. What would a Delmarva run be without a little run in the beach.

Start/Finish at the flag pole at The Assateague Visitor center. Take the sidewalk to 611 and take a right toward the Verrazano Bridge. Run all the way to the beach (1.25 miles). Cross over the dune and then run north (left) toward Ocean City along the beach. Run on the beach for an additional 1.5 miles (2.75 on your GPS) and then turn around. Run back to where you started in the beach (the will be a Youth Camping sign where you start and finish the beach section). Run back across The Verrazano Bridge and PAST The Assateague Visitor center. On you left hand side you will see The National Parks Service. Turn left and run straight back and you will see a trail. Enter the trail and follow it until you see the Rackliffe Loop sign where you will turn RIGHT. Follow the trail to the Rackliffe House and run around the shed and to the trail in your left. Follow the trail (not the gravel road when it splits) until it returns to the visitor center. Run left around the visitor center back to the flag pole. :)
